Puerto Rican reggaeton artist, Rauw Alejandro dropped his album, “Cosa Nuestra” (Our Thing) on November 15th 2024. His album included eighteen songs with nine features. Some of these features included Bad Bunny, Latin Mafia, and Laura Pausini to name a few. With this album, Rauw brought back the 70s vibe to Latin music. He also reminded his fans of their childhood favorites by paying a tribute to Frankie Ruiz’s salsa classic, “Tú Con Él” (You with him). He merged the newer generation with the older generation with the song "Se Fue" (She Left) featuring Laura Pausini. Typically, Rauw’s albums are more reggaeton based, but this time he incorporated a mix of everything to give his fan base a diverse range of styles.
He even gives his fans a song in English in which his voice resembles that of Chris Brown. Despite being from Carolina, Puerto Rico where the block is hot, he didn't let his music become something about his hood being dangerous. He instead chose to talk about topics like love, heartbreaks, and relationships.
In this album in particular he reminisces on his past relationship with singer Rosalía. Signs that he has healed from this relationship surge as this album reminds us of the past, but welcomes in a new future.
During his Instagram live, Rauw shared some of the songs on his album to give his fan base a preview about what this album was going to be about. Some of the Ruizs’ were at the location of where his live was held at. Rauw mentions “La salsa siempre me ha gustado de chamaquito. Mi familia escucha mucha salsa. Salsa es sabrosa, salsa es pura. Tiene magia.” (I have always liked salsa since I was a kid. My family listens to a lot of salsa. Salsa is tasty. Salsa is pure. It has magic.)
Rauw also let’s his fan base know that it was time for him to hop on some salsa. In the song titled, “Espresso Martini”, Rauw mentions that in Puerto Rico espresso is what highways are called. To Rauw espresso means “la calle” (the streets). The martini part of the song is “classy”. The metaphor behind this is that you can be made in the streets but you can also have elegance to you. Something that Rauw noted is that the dress code for this albums’ concerts will be elegance and class. A lot of his fans have been reposting outfit inspiration for this next tour.
