Big Meech was released from prison on October 16th, 2024, after being incarcerated since 2005. His expected release date was early 2025, but a judge shortened his sentence by 32 months, reducing his original 30-year term. Following his release, Meech was transferred to a halfway house, where he will finish his sentence, with a projected release date of January 27, 2026.
Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory is the founder of the Black Mafia Family (BMF), which som describe as a drug-trafficking and money-laundering organization. Along with his brother, Terry Flenory, Big Meech led BMF, starting in 1989 in Detroit. The organization grew to control much of the U.S. cocaine trade for over a decade, becoming one of the most influential crime families in history.
In 2005, several BMF members, including Big Meech, were arrested in a massive DEA drug raid. In 2008, Meech was sentenced to 30 years in prison. His influence on the streets, through BMF, has left a lasting legacy. The story of Big Meech and BMF has been so impactful that Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson created a series, BMF, which is now in its third season, detailing the lives and legacy of everyone involved.
