In a shocking turn of events, rapper Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, has reportedly been arrested and charged in connection to a murder-for-hire plot. According to reports from XXL Mag, Lil Durk was taken into custody in Broward County, Florida, on Thursday night and is currently being held at Broward County Jail, awaiting transfer to the US Marshals.
The news of his arrest comes just hours after five alleged members of Durk’s OTF (Only The Family) collective were accused of participating in a murder-for-hire plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo, resulting in the fatal shooting of Rondo’s cousin in August 2022. The charges, unsealed by a US District Court in Los Angeles, include conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, murder-for-hire resulting in death, and use of a machine gun in a violent crime.
The accused—Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston—were arrested in Chicago and are facing the possibility of the death penalty if convicted. According to the indictment, the plot to kill Quando Rondo was allegedly in retaliation for his supposed involvement in the 2020 death of OTF rapper King Von, who was killed in a brawl outside an Atlanta hookah lounge.
The August 2022 shooting took place at a West Hollywood gas station, where a gunman opened fire on Rondo and his entourage. Although Rondo and his sister were unharmed, his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, tragically lost his life.
