The “When We All Vote” nonpartisan rally took place on October 29th in Atlanta, Georgia, featuring founder and keynote speaker Michelle Obama alongside several celebrity ambassadors and co-chairs. The notable lineup included rally co-host and ambassador Kalen Allen, co-host and ambassador Lynae Vanee, co-chair Liza Koshy, ambassador Marsai Martin, co-chair Shonda Rhimes, ambassador Kelly Rowland, ambassador Ciara, co-chair Kerry Washington, co-chair Rita Wilson, ambassador D-Nice, ambassador Ari Lennox, and ambassador Victoria Monét.
Held in College Park, Georgia, this rally aimed to energize local college and high school students participating in the “When We All Vote My School Votes” program. Co-hosts Lynae Vanee and Kalen Allen hyped up the crowd as co-chairs and ambassadors shared insights on the importance of planning to vote. Performances by the Clark Atlanta University Drumline, Blanco Brown, DJ D-Nice, and Ari Lennox added to the excitement.
Executive Director Beth Lynk opened the rally with welcoming remarks, acknowledging sponsors, educating the audience about When We All Vote, and emphasizing the significance of early voting. Singer-songwriter Ciara highlighted the importance of planning to vote, while singer Victoria Monét reminisced about her first voting experience. Kerry Washington introduced several voting organizations, such as Pro Georgia and Black Voters Matter. Marsai Martin discussed the importance of mobilizing a voting group, and Kelly Rowland outlined a step-by-step voting plan.
During her address, Mrs. Michelle Obama underscored the importance of voters recognizing their power. “It is our power; it is the key to our ability to express ourselves and build the community and country we want to live in,” she remarked.
Overall, the rally reinforced the importance of understanding the power of voting and making a voting plan. Early voting ends on November 1st, and the polls open on November 5th from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
